My husband hated going to doctor appointments with me. To him it seemed like every visit was just a repeat and he didn’t like the sitting and waiting so I decided to make it an “us” day. After the appointments we would go out to lunch or to a movie and spend some time together and this seemed to get him more excited about going out. It wasn’t that he didn’t care (he loved hearing the baby’s heartbeat); it was just he hated the waiting part and being surrounded by a room full of pregnant women lol but making it a “date” type thing made it better for the both of us!!

Actually, I am the father responding right now. I love the fact that my wife is pregnant. When I hear the old song by Paul Anka “Having my baby!”, I laugh and smile with joy. Men need to get out and realize what a wonderful thing it is having a baby (yes, you are) with your wife or partner. I experience the same feelings in many ways that my wife does. I felt a little of her morning sickness even during the first trimester. I think when you hear the heartbeat or see the first ultrasound, you see what a wonderful event it is that is happening right before your eyes. I can see me playing soccer with my child and going to the library to read. Even cleaning the baby’s butt! Hey, I can do that! No problem. Go to the doctor’s office and participate with your wife in the examination. This is a great event and all men are a part of it, just as much as their partners are. It is a true blessing!

My baby’s father was very reluctant. He has a lot going on for him right now in his life and he basically saw having a child to just hinder that. I burnt a cd for him with just one song on it. There goes my life by Kenny Chesney. The song says everything that he’s feeling. Since he listened to that song he has been a lot better and is actually excited now to meet our little girl =)
